Do you remember those fond memories that you made with your grandmother when you were young?
Here is a Korean movie that depicts the relationship with grandmother and her grandson.
Love of grandmother is a main theme of this movie. A 7-year-old boy living in a city comes down to the countryside to temporarily live with his grandmother who can’t talk or read.
This little boy behaves silly at first as he doesn’t want to be in the boring countryside, yet his grandmother treats him with love.
As the grandson starts to adapt to rural life, his relationship with his grandmother deepens.
The movie reminded of the audience’s childhood and the unconditional love they received from their grandmothers. I remember hearing a lot of sobbing in the movie theater.
I also entered the theater without any expectations, but ended up sobbing.
When the movie came out in 2002, no one expected this movie to succeed because the plot seemed to be too normal. But, it turned out to be the best movie of the year.
After the movie gained its popularity, Yoo Seung-ho, who played the grandson, became Korea’s favorite ‘little brother.’
It’s a movie with a lot of Korean sentiments.
