지옥철 (hellrail) is a commonly used sarcastic term, slang for subway trains in South Korea, usually referring to overcrowded subways during rush hour, but it can also be used in a broader sense to refer to the safety hazards of overcrowding, the inconvenience of riding, and the distress caused by noise and odors from others.
