To mark Korea’s 80th Liberation Anniversary, the powerful final calligraphy of independence hero Ahn Jung-geun, titled Nokjuk (“Green Bamboo”), will be unveiled to the public. Written before his execution, Nokjuk reflects Ahn’s unshakable integrity and spirit. The phrase is from Chugu, a traditional five-character poem passed down through generations.
Taein, a orgnization and supporter of the Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Society, shared: ““To mark the 80th anniversary of liberation, we decided to hold this exhibition as a way to honor the noble spirit of Ahn Jung-geun and other independence fighters through cultural and historical heritage.”
Ahn’s calligraphy Nokjuk will be on display at the special exhibition “The Radiant Heritage of Independence” at Deoksoogung Palace’s Dondeokjeon in Seoul from August 12 to October 12, 2025.
