According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, they plan to sequentially introduce the ‘Urban Air Emergency Doctor Transport’ service and utilize it from 2026. Once commercialized, it is expected that vital organs, blood, and other necessities for emergency patient care can be swiftly transported, thus avoiding ground traffic congestion. By 2030, they aim to enable the transfer of emergency patients.
The existing ‘doctor helicopters’ have received criticism due to inadequate management of structures for pre-landing clearance for boarding. However, this new service, with its capability for vertical takeoff and landing, is anticipated to be more efficiently utilized as it does not require a separate runway.
