Almost 1 in 10 Korean Travelers Travels Alone. Do You Also Enjoy Traveling Solo?

Travel is truly precious. Traveling with many friends or family is wonderful, but solo travel, where you get to spend time alone, is also great. According to data from the South Korean travel platform ’Triple,‘ solo travelers—those who travel without companions—make up nearly 10% of all travelers. Unlike family travelers who prefer vacation spots, solo travelers tend to favor dynamic cities.

The most popular destination among solo travelers is Tokyo, Japan, accounting for 12.6% of the total. It is followed by Fukuoka (9.7%), Osaka (9.5%), Taipei (8.3%), and Bangkok (8.2%). Meanwhile, the most common type of travel companion is ’friends,‘ making up 27.4% of the total. This is followed by romantic partners (19.3%), spouses (16.2%), parents (14.7%), and children (13.3%).
