Cafe “Mukri459,” located at 459 Mukri road in Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, takes its name directly from its location. The name was derived from the tradition of making “muk” (black ink or ink in general) in the area. The building was constructed with the heartfelt intention of drawing a landscape in ink wash painting, aiming to harmonize with nature as ancient people once did.

One part of the building is designed as a dining area, while the other is a space for resting where visitors can fully experience the nature of Mukri. From the entrance, the entire space is painted in a dark greenish hue, intending to provide an unusual experience where the unfamiliar darkness gradually turns into comfort upon entering. Hoping it serves as a “space of emptiness” for escaping the burdens of daily life, the interior is minimally decorated with the intention that the space be filled by people’s experiences rather than furniture or objects. In this meditative space, visitors can humbly enjoy the light of the four seasons, momentarily borrowing from nature.

UoH Team visited on a rainy day yesterday, finding the sound of rain and the damp greenish light within the space to be beautiful.
