On June 14, 2022, nine years after their debut, BTS has announced that the group is going on an indefinite hiatus, and will focus on each member’s solo projects. Seven members said that although the group has been continuously thinking of the direction, they don’t know what to do next yet. The new album “Proof” will be the last album together for now. But, they were certain that this will not be the ultimate ending.

During the BTS FESTA dinner, the members said…

“We feel like we don’t have enough time to grow because we have to keep producing something. As a human being, we need to think and spend alone time, and something has to be produced, but now it seems physically impossible… The group has lost its direction and needs to recharge.”

— RM

“I think it’s time for us to think about our identities. I’m so sorry to say we are worn out, but I think we are.”

— Jimin

“The synergy of the members after the solo projects will be amazing.”

— V

“The system of K-pop itself blocks people to be mature because it incessantly push them to do something. There’s no time to grow.”

— RM
