In Yeongdo-gu, Busan, the world’s largest immersive media art exhibition hall has opened. ‘Arte Museum Busan‘ held its opening ceremony on July 18th and began operations on the 19th. With a private investment of 20 billion KRW, ‘Arte Museum Busan’ showcases 19 immersive media art pieces that combine digital technology and art in a 1,700 square meter exhibition space.
‘Arte Museum Busan’ is a immersive media art exhibition hall presented by d’strict, a globally renowned digital design company. Arte Museum Busan’ presents a total of 19 artworks centered around the theme of ‘CIRCLE,’ with 16 of them being new pieces.
Particularly, collaborative works with France’s Musée d’Orsay are making their global debut in Busan, along with ‘Starry Beach,’ which garnered significant attention at international galleries and exhibitions. ‘Arte Museum’ marks its 8th opening in Busan following its debut in Jeju in 2020, and subsequent openings in Yeosu, Gangneung, Hong Kong, Qingdao in China, Las Vegas in the United States, and Dubai.
Established in 2004, d’strict engages in digital content production and operates Arte Museum among other ventures. Its major shareholder is the US holding company d’strict Holdings (100%). Subsidiaries include d’strict Jeju, Arte Museum Hong Kong, d’strict Studio, and Arte Museum Korea. In 2021, d’strict gained attention for its dynamic portrayal of whales dancing in response to waves on a massive LED screen at New York’s Times Square, titled ‘Whale #2.’ It has also received acclaim for showcasing innovative attractions such as ‘WAVE’ at COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and at Arte Museum exhibitions.
