Feeding Pigeons in Seoul Parks May Result in a Fine of up to 1 Million Korean Won

Starting from March 2025, anyone caught feeding protected wild animals such as pigeons and magpies in Seoul’s urban parks and along the Han River will be subject to a fine of up to 1 million KRW.

The Seoul City Council has passed a bill establishing the “Seoul City Prohibition on Feeding Protected Wild Animals.” The bill includes provisions on designating and removing feeding prohibition zones, marking these areas, and imposing fines. As a result, the city will be able to conduct inspections and enforcement on feeding practices.

The bill will come into effect on January 24, 2025, and the fine regulations will be enforced starting from March 1, 2025, after a grace period.
