Fine Dust Reached Its Worst Level in Korea

Yesterday, on January 7th, air quality in Korea reached its worst level. The weather authorities issued an ultrafine dust advisory in all areas of Korea (except for the southern part of Jeju Island).

According to the weather authorities, fine dust in Seoul recorded 166㎍/m³, which is classified as “very bad.”

Fine dust classification

  • Good 0 ~ 30
  • Bad 81 ~ 150
  • Very bad 151 ~

The fine dust level increased as yellow dust, which originated from northern China and the Gobi Desert, flowed into Korea on the 5th. Fine dust is expected to stay “bad” by the 12th.
