Former President Kim Young-sam’s Wife, Son Myung-soon, Has Passed Away

On March 7, 2024, Mrs. Son Myung-Soon, Wife Of Former President Kim Young-sam, Passed Away At The Age of 95

It comes nine years after the death of former President Kim Young-sam in 2015. Born in 1929 in Gimhae, South Gyeongsang Province, Mrs. Son married former President Kim in an arranged marriage in 1951. At the time, wha Womans University had a policy against marrying while a student, so she hid her marriage and graduated.

Mrs. Son was a steadfast companion who stood by kim’s side through all the hardships he faced as a politician. When Kim went on a 23-day hunger strike in May 1983 to protest the house arrest of Chun Doo-hwan’s regime, Son stood by his side and read the Bible to comfort him.
