Google Decided Not to Run Political Ads During the South Korean General Election Period

To reduce voter confusion during the South Korean general election period, Google has decided not to display any political ads on portal sites, YouTube, and other platforms. This advertising policy applies uniformly to all Google ads, including YouTube, Google Search, and the Google Play Store.

Google‘s decision to forgo profitability during the election period by not accepting political ads is believed to stem from concerns about the potential inclusion of exaggerated or biased content in advertisements that could mislead voters.

Google intends to maintain its existing policy of not displaying ads featuring candidates for elected office or political parties in South Korea even after the general election period.
