In response to the question regarding the consumption of kimchi within households, 42.7% reported that it was decreasing, which was seven times higher than those reporting an increase. The probability of individuals identifying children as those who do not eat kimchi at all within households was 40.9%. The most common reasons for families not consuming kimchi at home were “being unable to eat spicy food,” followed by reasons such as “disliking the smell of kimchi,” “finding kimchi tasteless,” and “concerns about high salt content.” (Source : 2023 Kimchi Industry Survey and Analysis Report)
