The Cultural Heritage Administration Has Unveiled Reading Items Used By Joseon Dynasty Scholars

Scholars during the Joseon Dynasty were expected to demonstrate wisdom to guide society in the right direction and uphold the principles of loyalty. Reading books and writing were significant parts of their daily lives. From modern bookstands called ‘Seogyeondae (서경대)’ to inkstone cases called ‘Piltong (필통)’, bookmarks known as ‘Seosan (서산)’, book covers called ‘Chaekgap (책갑), and bookends referred to as ‘Chaekham (책함)’, explore various writing-related items from the Joseon Dynasty era.
