Kim Hong-Yul Becomes the First Korean B-boy to Compete in the Olympics

Kim Hong-Yul will be the first Korean B-boy to compete in the Olympics. Early this morning in Budapest, Hungary, he secured third place in the “Paris Olympic Qualifier Series B-boy 3rd, 4th Place Battle,” defeating Japanese B-boy Isshin.

Accumulating a total of 79 points from the first and second qualifiers, Kim Hong-Yeol clinched the second spot overall, earning himself a ticket to the Olympics following consecutive victories in both events, just behind Lee-Lou Demierre from the Netherlands.

Who Is Kim Hong-Yul?

Kim Hong-Yul, better known by his stage name Hong 10, is a Korean B-boy. He is a member of the Korean crew FLOWXL Crew, the global group 7Commandoz (project group), and represents the Red Bull BC One All Stars.

He is a B-boy who has achieved the second most victories in the Red Bull BC One World Final, a premier 1 vs 1 B-boying competition, winning three times (in 2006, 2013, and 2023). He has set a historic record by winning once in each of the 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s decades.
