Korean Art Master Park Seo-bo Passed Away On October 14, 2023

In February, Park Seo-bo revealed that he had been diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. Born in 1931, Park Seo-bo is a leading South Korean artist in the fields of abstract art and Danseakhwa painting. He led the Korean abstract art movement in the 1950s, and from the 1960s on, he became very popular for his “Ecriture” series, in which he constantly made lines in one color.

Dansaekhwa (단색화)

The term is used to describe the monochromatic, minimalist style of abstract painting that was central to Korean contemporary art in the 1970s.
