Seven years ago, he appeared on the Korean TV show ‘Einstein,’ shedding tears as he expressed his deep desire to pursue dance, despite his father’s opposition. When his father suggested, “Since you study hard and do well, can’t dance just be a hobby?” Minchul replied, “I just love dancing.” His father continued to argue, saying, “There aren’t many examples of men succeeding in dance in Korea,” but Minchul tearfully retorted, “That’s someone else. If I just pursue dance, people won’t notice much, so I’m even auditioning for Billy Elliot. Can’t you see my happiness, Dad?”
Since his elementary school days, Minchul, who loved dance, attended Sunhwa Arts Middle School and Sunhwa Arts High School before entering Korea National University of Arts in 2022 to pursue his dream as a ballet dancer. He will join the Mariinsky Ballet as a soloist in February next year.
