Koreans Are No Exception To Call Phobia

Across The Globe, A Growing Number Of People, Especially Young People, Report Feeling Uncomfortable Or Even Nervous And Afraid Of Talking On The Phone

According to a November 2023 survey conducted by a South Korean job site, 35.6% of South Korean Millennials and Gen Z suffer from the so-called “call phobia.”

According to the survey, the main difficulty of talking on the phone is “having to answer right away without having time to organise your thoughts” (60.0%). This is followed by the “fear of not being able to say what’s on their mind” (55.9 per cent) and “the fact that they are more comfortable with non-face-to-face communication such as texting and messaging” (51.6 per cent).

Four in 10 phobics said they don’t answer calls from numbers they don’t recognize, indicating that they are more comfortable communicating via email and text than over the phone.
