A 1,000-pyeong (approximately 3,305 m²) traditional goods-specialized space will be opened underground at Gyeongbokgung Palace. Korea Heritage Service announced plans to create the “Gyeongbokgung Flagship Store” on the second basement floor on the east side of Gyeongbokgung Palace, to be used as a cultural merchandise shopping and relaxation space. Recently, national heritage cultural product sales have tripled over four years, rising from 4 billion won to 12 billion won, but there has been a lack of sales space to support this growth. Accordingly, a total project budget of 16.8 billion won will be invested by 2027 to provide a space where visitors can enjoy shopping and relaxation.
