As the weather grows chilly, November is just around the corner. It doesn’t feel quite like the end of the year yet, and there‘s still time to wrap things up. Visiting an exhibition during this season is a great choice. Here are seven noteworthy exhibitions to check out in Seoul!
A special exhibition showcasing the artistic journey of a Buddhist monk over the past 40 years is being held. This exhibition reflects Seongpa’s practice and artistic world, featuring a variety of works that blend modern sensibilities with profound philosophical reflections.
Actor Ha Jung-woo, who has consistently held exhibitions since his first solo show in 2010, is hosting a personal exhibition at Hakgojae. In this solo exhibition, Yoon Hyup reflects on modern life by capturing the afterimages that arise at the intersection of personal emotions and the rapid changes of society. He conveys the sense of speed and energy of the city through his work, expressing the value of fleeting moments and human connection.
Thaddaeus Ropac Seoul is hosting a solo exhibition titled Soul by Irish artist Sean Scully. This exhibition draws on Ireland’s tradition of wordplay, simultaneously embodying the soul of the works and the city where the exhibition takes place. Scully’s series Wall of Light and Landline will be showcased together. He states, “The soul represents your spirit, and what you truly possess is only your soul.”

This exhibition marks a meaningful return, 13 years after the first Asian presentation of the collection through Agony and Ecstasy at SongEun in 2011. As part of SongEun’s ongoing international collection series, it revisits the relationship between artists and collectors, as well as the significance of art ownership, offering insights into the vibrant world of contemporary art.
