Places You Can and Can’t Take Off Your Mask in Korea

From today (Jan 30, 2023), the indoor mask mandate has been lifted. It’s the first time in 2 years and 3 months. But we still need to be cautious because the regulations are not completely gone.

People still have to wear masks in some places with a high risk of infection.

For your trip to Korea, here’s the list of the places you can and can’t take off your mask in Korea!

CAN take off your mask

  • Restaurants
  • Cafes
  • Offices
  • Supermarkets
  • Schools
  • Stations before riding public transportation (subway station, bus station, airport, etc.

(basically everywhere except CAN’T places)

CAN’T take off your mask

  • Medical institutions
  • Pharmacies
  • Social welfare facilities
  • Inside subway, bus, taxi, airplane (public transportation)
