A Convenience Store Specializing In Ramen Has Opened In Front Of Hongik University In Seoul With 225 Types of Ramen

Convenience store CU has opened the industry’s first K-ramen specialty store with a “ramen library” concept, which includes a cooker for instant ramen and a tasting table. The store offers 105 types of bagged ramen, three times more than other convenience stores. Not only do they offer representative ramen such as Shin Ramen, Bulgogi, and Jin Ramen, but also overseas ramen such as Sapporo-owned ramen from Japan. Add to that 120 cup noodles, and people can enjoy from a total of 225 ramen varieties. This is the widest selection of ramen among convenience stores nationwide.

A huge 100-compartment display case measuring 6 meters wide and 2.5 meters long is filled with bagged ramen. “The sales ratio of cup noodles and instant bagged noodles in convenience stores is 80/20, with cup noodles being the main product. Therefore, it is a new endeavor to significantly strengthen the bagged ramen assortment,” said CU official.

According to CU, the main reason for planning a convenience store specializing in ramen is that the demand for ramen is increasing along with the overall rise in consumer prices. In addition, Korean ramen products are gaining popularity overseas, with exports exceeding 1 trillion Korean won for the first time ever this year.
