Report 2024: Wedding Congratulatory Money in South Korea
A recent survey revealed that the average wedding congratulatory money in South Korea is 90,000 KRW, which has increased by over 20% in the past three years (73,000 KRW in 2021). When asked, ”What is an appropriate amount for wedding congratulatory money?“, 58% of the 74,652 respondents said that 100,000 KRW is the ideal amount.
Across all age groups, 100,000 KRW was the most preferred amount. Kakao Pay, who conducted the survey, explained, ”It seems that many people are considering the cost of a single plate at a wedding banquet, as well as the rising cost of living, when deciding on the amount of their wedding congratulatory money.“
