Rest In Peace, Kim Min Ki

Kim Min Ki, who operated the Hakchon Theater in Hyehwa, Seoul for over 30 years, nurturing young artists, passed away at the age of 73 on July 22, 2024, due to worsening gastric cancer. Debuting in 1970 with “Morning Dew,” Kim released hits like “Evergreen” and in 1984, formed the folk song group ‘People Who Find Songs,’ releasing project albums.

From 1991, he managed the Hakchon Theater, staging 359 productions including musicals like ‘Subway Line #1’ and children’s plays like ‘Gochujang and Tteokbokki’ over 33 years.

Due to his battle with gastric cancer and financial difficulties, Hakchon Theater closed its doors on March 15, 2024, coinciding with its 33rd anniversary.
