Seoul City Gives Out KRW 700,000 to Pregnant Women

he Seoul Metropolitan Government will give out KRW 700,000 (approx. USD 555) per person for transportation fees for pregnant women living in Seoul from July 1, 2022.

Such transportation expense support is a pledge announced by Oh Se-hoon, the mayor of Seoul, to make it a city that does not need to worry about childcare. This kind of support system is the first ever in the country and it is fully supported at the city’s expense. Fuel costs are included as well.

Pregnant women who have lived in Seoul for more than six months as of July 1, 2022 are eligible for support. The applicable conditions are three months after pregnancy and three months before the childbirth. The number of applicants is estimated to be about 43,000 this year.
