Some Places Including Convenience Stores And Starbucks Will Continue to Use Paper Straws In South Korea

Recently, South Korea’s Ministry Of Environment Announced That The Ban On Single-Use Disposables Is Being Rescinded

However, the majority of franchise companies and convenience stores in Korea have decided not to reintroduce plastic straws and continue to use paper straws despite the Ministry of Environment‘s policy change. Including coffee chains such as Starbucks and Hollys Coffee and fast food companies such as McDonald’s and Lotteria, there are nearly 20 franchise companies nationwide.

Consumers Are Divided On This

Meanwhile, some say that these franchises and convenience stores may have a lot of contracted supply left with the paper straw company or that they need to use biodegradable PLA because of incineration, and paper straws don’t help.
