A South Korean Ballad Singer Lee Moon-sae Has Released “Warm Is Better Than Hot,” A Song From His 17th Album

The sophisticated blues-style song features the jazzy sound of the instruments Lee Moon-sae‘s laid-back vocals sound very warm in this cold winter. Starting with this preview, he plans to gradually release songs from his upcoming album, which is scheduled for release in 2024.

Do You Know Lee Moon-sae? (Part I)

Born on February 24, 1959 in Seoul, South Korea, he made his debut as a radio DJ in 1978 and continued his career as a DJ, most notably on Starry Night (별이 빛나는 밤에), which he hosted from 1985 to 1996. If you don’t count his hiatus from 1985 to 2011, he was on the air for a total of 22 years.

Korean music has shifted its center of gravity from traditional guitar folk music in the 1970s to ballad music in the 1980s. In 1983, Lee Moon-sae began his musical career as a ballad singer. In 1985, he met composer Lee Young-hoon, and his song “I Don’t Know Yet” reached the top of the music charts in Korea. His peak came in 1987, when the majority of the songs on his fourth album became widely known to the public, cementing Lee’s position as a top ballad singer with sales that were unimaginable at the time. In 1993, Lee parted ways with his musical companion, Lee Young-hoon, and has continued to make music on his own, setting the stage for his own independent career.
