Today, we are introducing the uniforms for the South Korean national team competing in the Paralympics. Let’s take a look at the details of the Paralympic uniforms prepared by SPAO in collaboration with Team Korea. For this Paralympics, SPAO designed the uniforms under the slogan “Heroes Without Limits, Believing in Endless Possibilities.” They have reinterpreted traditional Korean aesthetics in a modern way, blending classic elegance with functionality and design.
One side of the white shirt’s collar features “Team Korea,” reflecting the athletes’ determination. The white suit jacket with black line accents offers a lightweight and cool touch. The black pants are made from stretchable fabric to enhance mobility. Noteworthy are the tie and scarf, reimagined with traditional Dancheong patterns. The fedora adorned with Taegeuk patterns is also impressive. The uniforms are tailored to each athlete’s physical measurements, thoughtfully accommodating their physical characteristics.
SPAO explained, “We modernized the meaning of Dancheong (the decoration of Korean wooden structures with patterns painted in various colors), created according to traditional principles of yin and yang and the five elements, to protect our national representatives from the challenges they may face and to help them achieve their utmost potential, reflecting the nation’s wishes in the design.”
SPAO is a Korean clothing brand that started in 2009. It is the first Korean brand in the SPA category, preceding brands like TOP10 and 8 SECONDS, and is a subsidiary of E-Land. Known for its reasonable prices, it’s worth a visit if you’re shopping for an alternative to Japanese brand UNIQLO during your trip to Korea!
