The iconic bakery in South Korea, ‘Sungsimdang (성심당)’, has surpassed 1.2 trillion KRW in sales last year, outperforming major franchises like Paris Baguette and Tous Les Jours. It marks the first time for a local bakery to exceed 1 trillion KRW in sales.
Sumsimdang, based in Daejeon Metropolitan City, has been operating as a bakery specialized store since 1956. It has been exclusively operating in Daejeon, with six locations including the Eunhaeng-dong main store, Daejeon Station, Lotte Department Store Daejeon Branch, and Daejeon Convention Center. It’s noteworthy that they don’t have any stores outside of Daejeon.
Sumsimdang is particularly renowned for its fried soboro (튀김소보로) and chive bread (부추빵). Which one would you like to try more?
