In Thailand, the movement to ’boycott Korean travel‘ has been spreading, leading to a 21% decrease in the number of Thai tourists compared to the same period last year. Consequently, Thailand is showing increased preferences for tourism from China and Japan.
The ’Ban Korea‘ hashtag is trending on some social media platforms. It is analyzed that dissatisfaction with strict entry inspections is a major reason. There have been reports of Thai travelers, who had received pre-approval through the K-ETA process, being denied entry and incurring costs ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars.
Meanwhile, the Korean tourism industry has stated through Sankei Asia that it has not yet felt a significant impact from this situation.
