Hwadam Forest (화담숲) is an ecological arboretum located in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do, 40 minutes from Seoul. With a focus on restoring the ecosystem of our forests, the LG Evergreen Foundation has created 16 themed gardens with more than 4,300 species of domestic and introduced plants on 165,265㎡ of land. The word “hwadam” in Hwadam Forest means “to talk properly,” and Hwadam Forest aims to be an ecological space where humans and nature can interact. 💚
You can see a variety of trees naturally growing along the valleys and ridges. For the disabled, the elderly, and children who are unable to trek due to physical limitations, the entire 5-kilometer forest trail has been built with gentle slopes so that they can comfortably enjoy nature with a stroller or wheelchair and heal, making it very popular with families. 🍁
However, they are notoriously difficult to book. Reservations can be made at ➡️www.hwadamsup.com, but booking a monorail can be as difficult as getting tickets to a concert and can take all day, so we recommend just buying a ticket.
🕛 Mon – Sun 8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. (entrance closes at 5 p.m.)
