The Day After Chuseok, Roads Are Congested In The Direction of Seoul

Roads in the direction of Seoul have been congested since this morning (Sept. 30, 2023), the day after Chuseok, as people start to return to Seoul from their hometowns. It is expected to continue until around midnight.

According to Korea Expressway Corporation, the estimated time to reach Seoul toll plazas by car as of 9 a.m. is as follows.

Busan – Seoul : 6 hours 10 minutes
Ulsan – Seoul : 5 hours 1 minute
Mokpo – Seoul : 5 hours 10 minutes
Gwangju – Seoul : 5 hours
Daegu – Seoul : 4 hours 51 minutes
Gangneung – Seoul : 3 hours
Daejeon – Seoul : 2 hours 4 minutes

Today’s traffic forecast is 5.42 million vehicles nationwide. There are 400,000 vehicles traveling from the metropolitan area to the provinces and 520,000 vehicles traveling from the provinces to the metropolitan area.
