The day before the Constitutional Court of Korea’s impeachment ruling on President Yoon Suk-yeol, ‘Level 2 Emergency’ has been declared in Seoul. This is the second-highest level of emergency duty, allowing the deployment of more than two-thirds of the police force. On the ruling day, April 3, 2025, a ‘highest alert’ will be issued nationwide, with 100% of the police force mobilized.
Around 14,000 officers from 210 riot police units across the country will be deployed in major areas of Seoul. Security forces will also be stationed at key facilities such as the National Assembly, diplomatic missions, and the presidential office. The police are on high alert to prepare for large-scale protests, unexpected situations, drone attacks, and potential acts of terrorism.
By the way, from 4:00 p.m. today until April 4, Anguk Station won’t be stopping, and the exits will be closed. So if you were planning to go near there, just keep that in mind.
