The Generation Born Between 2025 and 2039 is Expected to be Called the “Generation Beta”

The generation born between 2025 and 2039 is expected to be called the ”Generation Beta.“ This concept was proposed by Australian sociologist and futurist Mark McCrindle, who also coined the term ”Generation Alpha.“ McCrindle predicts that by 2035, the Beta Generation will make up 16% of the global population. Mark McCrindle stated, “The Beta Generation will face major global challenges such as technological innovation, climate change, global population migration, and rapid urbanization. For this generation, sustainability will not be an option but a necessity.”

While Generation Alpha (the term for those born between 2010 and 2024) is considered the first generation to grow up as digital natives, Generation Beta is expected to be the first generation born into an era where AI and automation technologies are seamlessly integrated into everyday life. Meanwhile, some argue against generational classifications altogether. The Pew Research Center has announced that it will stop using such terms, stating that “generational labels can reinforce harmful stereotypes or overly simplify the complexities of individual lives.”
