The Han River Zoning Out Competition Will Be Held In May

The ”Space Out Competition“ Returns To The Han River In Seoul This May

With over 3,000 participants annually, it’s expected to be fiercely competitive again this year. Taking place on May 12th at Jamsu Bridge, the 2024 Han River Space Out Competition will challenge participants to zone out for 90 minutes. They can‘t speak, use their phones, or sleep during this time.

Instead, they can signal for assistance from event staff using colored cards: red for a massage when about to fall asleep, blue for water when thirsty, yellow for fanning when getting hot, and black for miscellaneous discomforts. Winners will be determined by a combination of heart rate graphs and on-site public voting. Trophies and certificates will be awarded to the top three contestants and special award recipients.
