The New Year’s Bell Event Will Be On Site in Seoul, Korea

Every year, at midnight on the last day of the year, the New Year’s Eve bell-ringing event is held at Bosingak.

Bosingak is a large bell pavilion in Jongno district in Seoul, South Korea. In the Joseon Dynasty, the bell was at the center of the castle town.

The event was held only online to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in 2020 and 2021. Seoul City expects a large crowd of up to 100,000 to gather as the bell-ringing event resumes for the first time in 3 years. Accordingly, the Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to increase the number of safety personnel by 60% and operate some public transportation until 2AM.
