The South Korean Government Has Announced a Budget Proposal to Increase the Salary of Military Sergeants Next Year

The South Korean government has announced a 2025 budget proposal to raise the monthly salary for military sergeants to 2.05 million Korean won. In a speech, the government stated that the increase aims to instill a sense of pride in young servicemen‘s dedication by raising the sergeant’s salary to 2.05 million won starting next year.

Under this proposal, sergeants will receive a base monthly salary of 1.5 million won plus a future-preparation allowance of 550,000 won, totaling an increase of 400,000 won from the current salary. The government also pledged to increase investments for young people’s futures, including improving the benefits for junior officers and enhancing service conditions for all soldiers.
