The South Korean U-23 national football team clinched a 1-0 victory over Japan in the third group stage match of the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup in Qatar. In the first half, the team showcased a formidable defensive performance, effectively shutting down Japan’s offensive attempts. In the 75th minute, amidst a corner kick scenario, Lee Tae Seok delivered a ball into the box, which was skillfully headed in by Kim Min Woo.
With this win, the national team secured the top position in Group B, setting the stage for a quarter-final showdown against Indonesia, the second-placed team from Group A, led by coach Shin Tae Yong. They are poised to contend for a spot in the semifinals.
This refers to the South Korean men’s national football team under the age of 23. In the Olympics or Asian Games, a wildcard system allows for the selection of up to three players over the age of 23.
