Summer season is here, and water parks offer a great way to cool off and enjoy the summer heat. Here are three famous water parks in Korea that we‘d like to recommend. Although Korea is not particularly renowned for its amusement parks, its water parks have quite a good reputation, so be sure to check them out

What Is a Water Park?

A water park is a themed park equipped with various water-based recreational facilities. While specifics may vary by size and location, common features include water slides, wave pools, lazy river, and spas. Additionally, they often include amenities such as kiddie pools, bathhouses, and saunas.

1. Caribbean Bay

199, Everland-ro, Pogok-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea

Caribbean Bay is a water park located in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, designed with the motif of the Caribbean Sea. It opened on May 21, 1996, as the first water park in the country and the second largest in South Korea. Caribbean Bay is situated within Everland Resort, and separate admission fees are required apart from Everland.

2. Ocean World

262, Hanchigol-gil, Seo-myeon, Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do, South Korea

Opened in the summer of 2006, Ocean World has continuously expanded with additions like the Dynamic Zone and the Mega Slide Zone. Emerging as a strong contender in the water park industry in South Korea, it has now firmly established itself alongside Caribbean Bay. Ocean World adopts an ancient Egyptian-themed interior & exterior. According to the ‘Theme Index Museum Index 2018’, Ocean World surpassed Caribbean Bay to become the top water park in South Korea.

3. Lotte Waterpark

555, Jangyu-ro, Gimhae-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea

Located in Sinmun-dong, Gimhae, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea’s largest water park fully opened in June 2015. Embracing a Polynesian theme, it vividly recreates the cool stretches of a South Pacific beach. From staff uniforms to interior decor, everything is designed to resemble the South Pacific setting. One of its major advantages lies in the variety and number of ride attractions available. Additionally, with nearby attractions like Lotte Premium Outlet and Lotte Cinema, it makes for an ideal destination when visiting Busan.
