South Korea Was The Only Country to Rank “Material Well Being” As The Most Important Values

According to the “What Makes Life Meaningful? Views From 17 Advanced Economies” by Pew Research Center from November 18 (Survey of 19,000 people in 17 countries), in 14 out of 17 countries, “family” was the top choice. Spain tied for the top spot with “health” and “family.” Taiwan ranked “society” first. South Korea was the only country to rank “Material Well Being” as the most important value.

Why Does South Korea Prioritize Material Well-Being So Much?

As Korea is known to be a culture of comparison, as a result, Koreans tend to be more concerned with how much they have compared to others than how much they have.
