What Will be the Iconic Landmark of Seoul in 2027?

Seoul city’s current Mayor ‘Oh Se-hoon’ announced that a giant Ferris wheel named ‘Seoul Ring’ will be built in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, Korea by 2027. Now let’s dig into what the ‘Seoul Ring’ be like!


Seoul City officials said the city is planning to build the ‘Seoul Ring’ as the world’s largest and tallest Ferris wheel.

The city decided to build the tallest one in the world in hopes of letting people see the whole view of downtown Seoul and the Han River, including North Korea, at a glance. Currently, the world’s largest Ferris wheel is ‘Ain Dubai’ from Dubai, United Arab Emirates with, a height of 250m. There will be a huge structure full of cabins so that visitors can ride and see the Han River from the inside of the cabin.



The ‘Seoul Ring’ will be built in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul.

Sangam-dong is the neighborhood that is famous for Haneul Park, one of the 5 major parks around the World Cup Stadium. The overall shape of the park is a square, and it is organized by different features – a silver grass field, a rock garden, a mixed grass field, and a sunflower site. In addition, Sangam-dong is the mecca of Hallyu (Korean Wave), as it has major broadcasting companies and degital media companies.


Seoul City’s Mayor Oh Se-hoon said he wants to transfer Seoul from a serious city to a fun-filled city.
