Nearly 7 In 10 Workers In Korea Received A Lunar New Year Bonus This Year, According To Various Surveys

  • 66.3% of respondents said they received a Lunar New Year bonus or gift.
    • 78.2% of large companies
    • 70.5% of medium-sized companies
    • 64.4% of small companies
    • 58.7% of public organizations

  • In terms of the types of Lunar New Year bonuses, “cash” was the most popular at 45.1%, followed by gifts such as rice cakes and fruits at 36.7% and both cash and gifts at 27.5%.

The Average Amount Of The Bonus Is 618,130 Won

  • Of those who don’t receive a bonus, 44.2% said they receive a gift instead.
  • The most desired holiday gift is a gift cards, cited by 52.5%.

This lunar new year holiday, 77.9% of employees plan to provide pocket money and gifts to their parents and friends. The average amount they plan to spend on holiday pocket money and gifts is 430,000 won.
